Eighteen years can be measured in time. At Hummingbird Nursery, we prefer to measure them in moments.

Since 2008, Hummingbird Nursery has had the privilege of being part of these moments, supporting children and families through some of the most important early years of childhood. 

As we celebrate our 18th anniversary, we look back with gratitude at the children, families and educators who have made Hummingbird what it is today. 
 

18 Years of Little Moments That Matter

Some of the most meaningful milestones in childhood are also the smallest. 

It could be the first time a child confidently waves goodbye at the nursery door, makes a new friend, completes something independently or excitedly and shares a new discovery. 

At Hummingbird, we recognize that every child’s journey is different. Our focus is on creating meaningful opportunities for children to explore, discover and learn at their own pace. 

Through play, creativity, conversation and everyday experiences, children are supported socially, intellectually, emotionally and physically thereby nurturing the whole child and encouraging a lifelong love of learning.

Within a caring and stimulating environment, children are encouraged to ask questions, make choices, explore ideas and develop confidence and independence.

Bringing the EYFS Curriculum to Life 

Hummingbird follows the UK’s Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum, creating opportunities for children to learn through meaningful experiences. 

Learning might begin with a story, imaginative play, something discovered outdoors or a simple question that leads to further exploration. 

As an EYFS nursery, our approach goes beyond preparing children academically for school. It supports communication, creativity, confidence, independence, relationships and the skills children need as they continue to grow.

Reaching 18 years gives us a moment to look back, but early years education has always been about looking forward. 

There will always be another first day. Another friendship waiting to begin. Another question to explore. Another moment when a child realizes, “I can do it.” 

Our story may now span 18 years, but for every new child who walks through our doors, their Hummingbird journey is only beginning.
